Mr. Darcy”s Character Features:-

Darcy is a character that draws our attention towards human error as well as arrogance. Mr Darcy is a very proud person, who lives for himself as shown in starting of the novel. But it turns out to be wrong later he comes to emerge to us as a real hero. His first impression was actually that he is arrogant. When Elizabeth is insulted by him. That mistake is rectified later. At the beginning of the novel, he gives the impression that she is not a beautiful girl and is incapable of him. When he refuses to dance with her, she is very much hurt by this act of him. And this is the case of bone of contention. Everyone present at the dance party considers him arrogant because he leaves a very bad impression on the ball party, he keeps himself reserved, and it is considered he is present there merely by compulsion. His behaviour clearly indicates that he has accepted that there is all unworthy and not able for him. Where he labels himself as a proudy man till the end he remains like that.
As the novel progresses, so change in Darcy’s character comes up. His character changes with the passage of time he emerges as a mature person. He also removes his shortcomings and also changes his point of view towards Elizabeth. As before people are getting to know him as a villain people see him in this form as a stupid person. Then we all get shocked. Now his character translates himself by his actions either good or bad. Elizabeth Bennet now becomes just satisfied because she also starting to think about him without a prejudiced outlook. This same person emerges noble man for her.

Mr. Wickham who has been blamed at him that blames have been removed to some extent now. The first time Elizabeth sees Darcy so closely that she finds him a totally changed person maybe her dream boy. However, it would be so, when she unveils her prejudice from her eyes and sees him with a realistic approach this kind of approach the author suggests to us at all. Whether or not Darcy is arrogant, Elizabeth knows that when she gets him in his estate that is called Pemberley where he is considered that a man of humble and serves for people. All the people of Pemberley estate respect him very much. A real Darcy emerges us in this situation otherwise we are bound to see that only through the eyes of Elizabeth. Our feelings and sympathies for the first time attach to him. He appears to us as a real hero and a possible match for Elizabeth.
As we know that heroes often go through difficult situations, Jane Austen often puts his heroes in difficult situations in her novel” In PRIDE AND PREJUDICE”. Darcy’s character original test begins when the elopement of Mr. Wickham and Lydia comes to happen. Elizabeth realizes that Darcy will probably leave her because there is a blemish on her family. And like Darcy who always likes status ever, will never have any connection with her and her family, now, they cannot arrange their marriage at any cost. But under this kind of situation, The way in which Darcy performs, is a commendable and compliment. He turns the situation into a very mature person. However, no one knows about this thing that Wickham and Lydia have got married by Darcy. As we know Wickham has no intention of getting married to Lydia. Gives Darcy a lot of money when he gets married to Lydia. Although thing is known by Elizabeth yet it is known after a long time. When she comes to know about this then she is very much impressed by Darcy. We think so, no objections remain for refusal to marry.

Jane Austen’s characters are not merely computerised but they are human beings, they have passions and sentiments,  they also laugh, they also get emotional, They have an anger attitude, and they also get angry, they all do that. Similarly, Darcy seems to have a human spirit and acts like humans. When he looks down upon Elizabeth then we also cannot amaze that he has done any crime rather it is human passion, a aristocratic man usually behaves the same as he do so. So, this is not his fault rather it is his lifestyle that proves him different from other people. We also accept that act by the well-known landlord, eventually, he himself has admitted that he has taught by his family in childhood to look down upon poor people. In the mid of the novel, he also confessed that Elizabeth has changed totally him very much. Sudden changes in character or texture of the novel can spoil the work of the author, we analyze that Darcy’s character does not adopt sudden changes in himself rather he modules time by time. He gradually changes, every event, and every incident of the novel changes by him. The novel is attached to each of the Incidents by him.

In short, this is evident by reading the above discussion. Darcy’s character, Intellect, strength of Character, cleverness, courage and perception of life, make him superior to other characters in the novel PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. It seems as if the whole of the novel was built on Elizabeth but it is all wrong because there is another person whose name is Darcy. What does this novel do? We just now realize that there is only one character put inside this novel that has no match with anyone, It cannot be done by anyone and no matter how much he is different. So, it becomes clear that the character of Darcy is quite different from the others males character in this novel. He is not only a self-centred character but also loves caring. His caring nature can be seen when he adopts precautions about Wickham then he(Wickham) tries to seduce his sister. Timely he warns his sister this case shows that he is a very caring brother even after disappearing from the novel, he remains in our thoughts. A reader’s camera is always fixed on him. That is why he becomes the central character of this novel. So, end of the novel we can say that Jane Austen very skillfully delineated the character of Darcy “in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE”.
